This week, international media reported the tragic death of a young French man, who passed away by suicide following a poorly executed beard hair transplant procedure in Turkey. According to reports, this young man travelled to Turkey for a beard transplant, expecting a qualified doctor to perform the surgery. Instead, the procedure was reportedly carried out by an individual with no medical training, working primarily as a real estate agent.
The outcome left the patient with physical and emotional distress due to irregular hair growth and significant scarring. His father, in an act of bravery, has come forward with his son’s story in hopes of raising awareness about the risks of pursuing hair restoration procedures in unregulated settings.
On behalf of HRBR, we extend our deepest condolences to this young man’s family. This tragic incident underscores the critical importance of entrusting hair restoration procedures, like all medical interventions, only to qualified professionals within regulated clinics.
At HRBR, we are dedicated to patient safety and quality care. We believe that non-EU medical clinics, especially those in Turkey, should not be permitted to advertise within the EU. HRBR no longer accepts repair cases for procedures initially conducted in Turkey.
HRBR remains the only standalone hair transplant clinic globally with JCI accreditation, ensuring that each patient receives the highest standard of care, from initial consultation to post-operative support. Our experienced surgeons and dedicated team are committed to safe, ethical, and effective treatment.
For anyone considering a hair transplant or related procedure, we strongly encourage selecting a reputable clinic staffed by certified professionals. Prioritising a licensed, qualified provider is essential for both physical safety and mental well-being.
